hi,
keep in mind that dielectric strength (volts/mil) is a function of thickness. by that i mean that the dielectric strength measured on a 'thin' sample will be greater than the dielectric strength measured on a thick sample. if this is an important property, you should measure the breakdown strength on the dielectric at the thickness you intend to use.

Subject: [TN] Dielectric Strength
Can someone tell me the dielectric strength (how many dc volts per mil,
layer to layer) can FR-4 handle? Also, I need to create a capacitor between
two pieces of copper
on opposite sides of the board. How do I calculate the size of the copper
to achieve a given capacitance.
Thanks,
