Designers,
Did you ever wonder why component manufacturers don't supply you with
footprint and schematic symbols in a electronic data format file. I was
sitting there, with not too much time on my hands creating a 388 pin BGA
device.... wondering.. how many designers have had to create this footprint
? I know that there are many places out there that will (for a fee)
supply you with this information in your cad data format... but wouldn't it
be nice if any component manufacturer would supply this information to you?
Let's say distribute it in a GENCAM or DXF type database that could be
imported into any CAD system? Even Component vendors could source a common
database (instead of the component companies each creating their own).
What a wonderful world it would be !
Just dreamin'
Karl
