John,
There are other specifics.
Many times scoring is done before auto insertion, and is expected
to last through part insertion. (must be thicker to support
insert pressure.)

Other times it is just used for board transport. (can be much
thinner.)

Using the insert type thickness will work either way. So what
ever value you use, go from there.
Find the quantity that will remain in the panel.
You may want to break a manufacturer's panel in half or
quarters before scoring. This may also entail placing tooling
holes or extra space for the assembly carrier.
Assembly house will have a average/optimum panel size.
Also small boards tend to mean more scores and the entire panel
becomes weaker.
I have made support panels for panels that were v scored, because
the number of boards up made the panel to weak, and it becomes
difficult and ugly to break a board that is getting around .010".
A carrier may be made with help from you PCB manufacturer.
