I haven't had problems with thin boards; badly designed thin boards maybe.  I
am running a PWB of .012 thickness now, COB one side BGA the other.  I have
recent memories of .035 parts.  Usually the BGA fan out pushes the layer
count up where .062 is the prevalent thickness.
