There are some alternatives to cadmium for corrosion prevention and I
thought that the European comunnity had already gone that way. Zinc- iron,
zinc nickel, and a couple of other zinc alloys were championed by the
European countries to replace cadmium about 10 years ago. Corrosion
resistance data for these alloys has been very good with some alloys being
several times beter than Cadmium in salt spray.Unfortunately, I have never
seen torque-tension data for for these plated coatings on fasteners.
