Brian,
I do not agree with you since a lot of reasons:
1) Charles Dolci stated already - this forum is for exchange of opinions and
information. This is not magazine with edditor, the forum is free of
personal or organization liability.
2) Gordon wrote about his feelings concerning "lead free " trend. As
technical people we usually are concentrating our effort on "how" without
dealing too much with "why".
3) I believe, that such postings will have some effluence on further
negotiations concerning reasons for "lead free".

Discussing the point no 2. - just try the evaluate why PCB manufacturing
industry is moving to non- HASL finishing. As PCB manufacturer this was very
obvious for me, why assembly need flat pads.As well we realise, that HASL
finishing can not supply this demand in mass production. In this respect the
"alternative finishing" is just synonime for "flatness". Still, a lot of
production is done still with HASL finishing since from assembly point of
view this is still OK.
I believe, that most of us are living in democratic countries where people
are used to discuss and oposite regulations or laws imposed by authorities
if those regulations seems to be unreasonable.
I am considering Gordon`s posting as a part of public discussion on
regulations and "lead free forum" is the proper place for it.
