Dear all technetters
I work for PWB manufacturing company which mainly produces multilayer
board.
When we inspect prepreg at the incoming material inspection, we just check
resin content & gel time.
Now, we have the plan to buy mini-press for the purpose of checking the
scaled flow value of prepreg at the incoming inspection
Our hot pressing process engineer insists that just checking resin content
& gel time is not sufficient and ineffective to control the board
thickness.
I'd would like to know checking the scaled flow value at the incoming
inspection is usual and effective way to control the board thickness.
As long as I know, there are few of PWB manufacturing companies to check
the scaled flow value at the incoming inspection.
I have two questions.

1. To buy a mini-press is wise judgement for checking scaled flow value at
the incoming inspection?
2. At the incoming inspection, checking resin content & gel time is
actually not sufficient and ineffective? If so why?

Any remarks will be helpful for me

regards
Jay Ju
