This system was introduced into my last Company shortly before I sought
pastures new. It is very comprehensive, and can be linked to other,
proprietary modules to provide a fully integrated business system.
Depending on what you were used to using before, it is not the easiest
package to use properly. It's tailored more for mass production than batch
production (if that's you situation), and has much that requires manual
input that you would expect to be more automatic, but it is a good, if
rather long-winded system.

The biggest trick, and the least straight-forward to get over to everyone,
is a full appreciation and understanding of how the system works (or at
least each function's part of it), and particularly what the implications
are that any input has on other parts of the system. There are fields that
have numerous, apparently disparate and often free-form options: what you
input, and how, has downstream effects, though, that can badly restrict the
systems effectiveness. I found it to be a fact that it requires a
consistent form/format of input from everyone involved, if the levels of
control that are achievable are to be realised. This means a lot of hard
work on someone's part, well in advance of system launch, to determine what
the input content needs to be under various circumstances. It accepts a lot
of rubbish, but the rubbish undermines the outputs. If the input
requirements are understood and adhered to with iron discipline, the system
can work remarkably well, but it needs far more than a face-value
assessment, and a full overlay of precisely what the inputs should be in
all your business's circumstances.

Hope this helps.

Fellow technetters,

Has anyone got experience of Paradigm ERP software by Cimnet? We're
currently looking at various ERP / MRP systems specifically tailored for
PCB
manufacture. This system looks very comprehensive / impressive. Just
wondering if anyone out there has first hand experience of this
software.....good and bad experiences appreciated.

Best regards,

Martin Christie
