Why would you want to do this?
The only reason I can think of is you want to measure the roughness of gold
coated edge pads that are going to be repeatedly inserted into a connector
and you are concerned about the lifetime of the gold contacts in the
connector. If you really want to do surface roughness, I would buy a
surface roughness tester from Mitutoyo or some other company like them.
