Phil, you are asking too much! If you have a system that works it must be
complicated. We put labels (stickers) on all incoming materials. Each label
is assigned a date and code number. The date and code number is logged into
a computer data base and a person is assigned to keep track of the
materials. Each person using the material has the responsibility to check
the date label and request material replacement before if runs out of date.

Subject: [TN] Shelf life of non-component materials

We have embarked on the road to ISO 9001-2000 and the notion
of tracking
materials with shelf life, such as thermal grease, epoxy,
glue and other
"date sensitive" materials has come up.

Have any of you come up with an uncomplicated system that
works?

                Thanks, Phil Nutting
