I have posted one last image, until the acoustic microscopy results come
back, and it is titled what are the spots. They do look burned or zapped.
Are they caused during processing, because of ESD/EOS (not supposed to see
this using optical microscopy), dust mite droppings, or?
Thanks Guenter for your off forum reply. You're rignt, these devices are
high speed/power FET amplifiers. I'll be tuning in from work but will be
unable to reply farther until after.
One other thing I'm investigation in case any of you have had this
experience: The supplier specifies that hand soldering operations, to attach
the two leads, be performed not using over 260 C. for over 10 seconds. I am
looking into this now. Sounds like critical need for highly controlled
temperature irons like Metcal or Haako.
Thanks
Earl Moon
