Age discrimination stuff aside. I did not think the Forum was the
appropriate place for a Job Posting (that is unless I was looking for that
particular job .... and was of the correct age ......). JM2B

TechNetters, I have made it a rule to stay out of controversial
discussions, but this point does not seem controversial. It looks like
Eric is from the UK. As a member of the IEEE, I recall seeing a letter
from a member there describing an employment ad that called for one
position, 27-34, another position, 30-40, and another with still a third
age range, and pointing out that in the US such an ad would be illegal.
Personally, I would be reluctant to join an organization that openly
discriminated. And I'm note sure I'd want to do business with one. Lou

        Hi everybody,
The advertisement for a salesman brings up a good point.
Why do firms insist on specifying an age limit for a particular
post
when it
precludes very suitable and dynamic people both above and below the
llimits.
In particular, an older person can bring a wealth of experience and
knowledge to the table that a younger person may not have.
Physical fitness? Look at the number of retired people in the
London
        Marathon.
Employers, please judge people on their merit, not when their
parents
        decided to start a family.
        Regards
        Eric Dawson
