Well, I thought I would put my 1 cent in now. All I can say regarding outsourcing is DO YOUR HOMEWORK. As you can tell by my e-mail address, I work for a LARGE contract manufacturer. I've also worked for two others. I've also worked for many OEM's. If you thoroughly investigate (key word is thoroughly) the proposed CM and are confident they can handle work of whatever volume, go for it. Send them a small sample kit for qualification. If your situation resembles P. Duncan's (work is destroyed, not understood, not followed correctly) then you need to go elsewhere. The team I work with now is very attentive, DFM oriented, and willing to bend to allow the customer to feel comfortable. That's the key. The customer has to feel comfortable with our philosophies of manufacture. We manufacture for a lot of very large customers. Our income is dependent on the customer's satisfaction. I have come to the conclusion that I enjoy CM work more than OEM. It's more challenging and developing prototypes to full CFM manufacture has been fulfilling.
Just my opinions.

off cose, dear Werner, but I hoped someone else dared complete my version..now it's done..thx. By the way ,you can see already from your title, Werner, in what direction the cash flows : CONSULtant...person who is accustomed to luxury life, someone you have to pay even when he is sleeping...he-he..I've probably put my head into a grizzly den now...

Hi Ingemar,
Don't you know that out-sourcing was invented by consultants to increase
business ;)?
