Hi Emily,

The other method for electrographic  porosity testing of Au over Ni is
nioxime test papers developed in ammonia.Pores ie presence of Ni ions are
indicated by purple spots.
These were availiable from Fischer Instrumentation....I don't know if they
still are!
This complied to BS 9761
