Hi Richard!
I'll give why we have a buffer in my scenario. I've got a vintage DEK-265
feeding into a Philips...er, I mean an Assemblion Topaz. The monitor and
keyboard stand on the DEK won't allow me to butt both machines together and
have a decent position for them, I can see operators banging their heads on
it because it would be sticking out so far. Also, the buffer allows you to
take a printed board off the conveyer easily to do a paste inspection.
But you do have a point about buffering, most pick and place machines nowdays
also buffer one board inside itself that's waiting to be placed, so in that
sense, a buffer conveyer probably isn't buying you anything...
So if you have a printer that will inspect the boards that it prints before
letting them go, and you can physically butt both machines together, then
probably you don't need a buffer conveyer....no wait, I just thought, how do
you take the bad printed boards off before they go into the pick and place?
Maybe a buffer conveyer is necessary after all...hehehe.

<< Hello all,
I am interested in feedback from those of you who have semi-auto and auto
paste printing in-line.
Do you have the printing equipment connected directly to the PnP or do you
use a buffer stage between them and why?
I realize that the printer is more than likely going to be shorter cycle
time and thus faster than the PnP but is there enough of a difference to
warrant a buffer stage?
Thanks in advance for your opinions (on the subject please!!).
