Eric
I'm sure somebody will tell us if this is not the case.
0402 gives the outline of the capacitor (40thou x 20thou). I have yet to see
a (SMT) capacitor which is taller than wide. So I think you are safe as the
max height will be 20 thou (0.5mm) plus the thickness of the paste 10 thou ?
(.25mm). Max height --> .75mm

Subject: [TN] Height of 0402 devices
Maybe someone out there can save me a few hours slog through catalogues and
specs.
We're selling an MCM which has 0402 caps and zero ohm links soldered onto
the base. Our customer wants to impose a tight tolerance on the height of
the parts. I think that the height of a generic 0402 can vary from 0.40mm to
0.80mm high. Is this correct or am I being pessimistic?
Thanks,
Eric Christison
