I may have missed some of the responses, but I agree with Steve unless you
have light weight components that will "float" during wave soldering. In
that case, we used to use a solder-cut-solder operation. Basically, after
lead cutting with rotary cutters we would reflow the solder joints. There
are several ways this can be done, but the easiest way we had for our CFM
operation was to have a second wave solder machine inline after cutting, but
we did not add solder. We simply turned the bottom heaters on the old wave
solder machine up hot enough to reflow the solder joints.
