Solder pot purity maintenance is specified in J-STD-001. Copper limit is
0.300% The J-STD-006 is a specification for electronic grade solder alloy.
This is what you should get when you purchase fresh solder.

Subject: [TN] Copper levels in wave solder pot

Gurus,
After having our solder pot analyzed, the copper level is showing .1273.
In July of 1999, the copper level was .120. We are assuming the copper is
coming from the cut component leads. My concern is whether or not this is
significant enough to change out the solder. J-STD-006 specs .08 as
acceptable but I don't know how "bad" .1273 is considered to be. Any help
is appreciated.
Sue James
