We are looking for a software system that will allow us to wand incoming
component packaging (reels and trays of components as well as various other
hardware) and check the results against a database for supplier approval
and partnumber verification. The difficulty is the variability in the
incoming barcode information. Different suppliers will string additional
characters for component configuration, date code, etc.

Does anybody have ideas on what works for this application?
