We use several methods to remove no-clean flux residue. Our paste is Indium
SQ92 and have cleaned effectively with Kyzen's Ionox I3330 (synthetic
alcohol) in a bench-top agitated bath type of cleaner for approximately 20
minutes. It took a lot of trial and error to determine the best combination
of cleaning chemistry and technique to obtain the desired results with the
flux you are using. You will most likely need to do the same. If no SMT
components, a non-agitated bath might work, but otherwise you will need some
sort of solvent spray or agitation to get solvent into the tight spots.

Subject: [TN] Washing of no-clean

Hi technos,

I need your expertise again.

We are on no-clean and newer clients ask us to clean the residue. I need to
know if any equipment exists to do this job, except for the big washers. I'm
thinking of a small (table top) tank, followed by some drying thing.
Then, is the simple dipping of the board enough to wash away the residue, or
some agitating action is needed?

We are on X33 flux from Multicore and I think I can get from them the right
substance that would do the cleaning. However, if you happen to have
suggestions...

Thank you,
Ioan
