Aren't the terms:

"bleeding edge" technology , "scab-on parts", and the more sophisticated  -
-  "concurrent engineering" all pieces of the same pie ???

Which of course, begs the question:  are "scab-on" parts the natural
consequence of "bleeding edge" technology use?......
