Hello Techneters,

There is something new out there called Infinband. The
backplane specification calls out a connector that has
both compression mounted and press-fitted through hole
contacts. The backpanel PCB finish requirements call
out .76 micron Au over Ni on the compression mount
pads (plain old PCB pads) and conventional SnPb over
Cu WITH NO Ni ALLOWED in the press-fit through holes -
anywhere in the press-fit holes. Both the compression
pads and through are close to each other (.100") and
this is a backplane so the Au plated areas are not on
the edge of the PCB.

This seems to be a very unusual and very expensive
plating requirement. Has anyone ever heard of this and
if so can they recommend a fab house.
