1) no problem to do! Well, some problem but can be done. Check web sites for companies that manufacture selective soldering pallets for use in wave soldering. Datum Dynamics, Garland Service, MB Manufacturing are a quick sample of manufacturers. Basically you need to add the parts in areas that you can later shield from the solder wave while still exposing the thru-hole stuff. Drop me an off-technet email if you want web addresses, I'm sure Google can find them for you though.

2) don't do it! Well, if you do it beware that you will likely have problems.

Good luck!

Hello All,

I am needing information (help) on two issues:

     1. We have a board that has all SMT/Thruhole parts on the
primary side. We would like to add some SMT parts to the secondary
side, i.e. 0805's, SO8's and SO16's. How could we go about doing
this and still run thru the wavesolder? We do not have a glue
dispenser.

     2. We have had some designers ask about putting via's in an
SMT land. What is the consensus on this?

I appreciate any help, advice you may have.
Thanks,
