EHS COMMITTEE CHANGES FREE FORUM F-05 TO PROPOSED EPA MP&M Regulations Will
Close PWB Facilities!
The IPC Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Committee announces that it
will sponsor a free forum focusing on EPA's proposed Metal Products and
Machinery Effluent Guidelines on Tuesday, April 3 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
This forum will be held instead of the previously announced session F-05
"Lead Free: Avoiding Unanticipated Environmental Compliance Consequences."
In making this change, the committee hopes to present information to the
membership on what it believes to be the most pressing environmental
regulation currently effecting the industry.
EPA has estimated that 7 PWB Facilities will be forced to close under
proposed EPA Effluent Guidelines for Metal Products and Machinery (MP&M).
An additional 301 facilities are expected to have difficulty financing
compliance investments or on-going business investments as a result of the
rule. EPA has estimated the total annualized cost (in 1996 dollars) of the
recently proposed effluent guidelines for PWB facilities to be $147.1
million for the PWB industry or slightly over a quarter million
per-facility. Come hear our expert panel talk about flaws in the proposed
rule, how it could affect your facility, and what you can do to stop the
rule.
