Alan,
A difficult and increasing problem. In defence industry, fitted component
operational life is becoming an ever longer feast while component availability
is an ever shorter honeymoon. Such is life!
One answer, I think open to non-BAE SYSTEMS companies but apologies to others
if not,

Also, more generally,

And two companies who specialise in long term storage problems, etc,
John Jones
IGG Component Technology Ltd
Fareham

Eltek Semiconductors Ltd
Norman vincent

Hope these can help you. I do not class myself as an expert so please do not
contact me for advice.

Hello
Does anyone have any ideas where I could find out more information by
"constructional type" of the predicted life and failings, due to ageing, of
discrete high reliability /military standard electronic components?
We want to have confidence that electronic components fitted to a 25 year old
system will continue to function for 35 years. These components are in a
sealed (
non hermetic) benign environment rarely being powered up. Does anyone have any
histories/references by "constructional type" of discrete electronic
components
degrading and failing due to age?
