Why doesn't someone make backplanes using SMT
connectors instead of press-fit connectors,
particularly for multi-row connectors like CompactPCI
or Futurebus.

It seems like the backpanels would offer better
electrical performance and would be easier to route
and co8uld probably have fewer layers if the through
holes were eliminated
