I agree, we should be using metric or at least base 6 or something.

However, fractions are an important conceptual part of mathematics and can
only help with understanding division, addition, etc.  Decimals don't make
much sense without understanding how many parts out of how many possible
parts you have.

Just funny that some of the same people who can't use a ruler are incredibly
fast at knowing when their paycheck is two cents short.
