You will find a great deal of discussion on V groove. The long and short of
it: It's not the depth of the groove but the material that remains . . .
about 0.015" for FR4 and 0.062" thick boards. There is discussion of other
materials and other thickness as well.

Subject: [TN] V-groove dimessions.

Hi TechNetters !!

We have a requirements of making a panel of multiple PCBs (2 / 4 / 6) for
mounting efficiency. Our board size is typically 3" x 4" and 4" x 4".

What is the various methods of making panel w/o increasing the PCB cost ? PL
also mention the comparative advantages of using 'v' groove. And in case of
using 'V' groove, what should be the dimensions of the groove ?

Best regards,
