Learnsoft takes two tacts on ESD training ...
1 Regular people accept and benefit from regular training
2 Engineers seem to believe they have been exempted from the physics of damaging components and so, require special training

Both courses are CD-ROM self paced and have a great method for recording the status of training [oftimes the biggest challenge in managing a training program]. Places to look are http://www.smta.org and http://www.rovell.com

The best book by far is "ESD Program Management - A Realistic Approach to Continuous Measurable Improvement in Static Control" by G. Theodore Dangelmayer 2nd edition 1999 Kluwer Academic Pub; ISBN: 0412136716. The first printing is unavailable through normal book stores [not that they would carry it in the first place. ESD suppliers [Desco, Charles Water, etc] may have copies. Try the ESD Association, 200 Liberty Plaza, Rome, NY 13440 315.339.6937fax6793. Check with Kluwer [Alex Green<[log in to unmask]>] for the status of the next printing.

And finally, what ESD lower level have you decided for your plants today? We aim at some 50V max allowable charges anywhere in the lines and their surroundings, but seems hard to fulfill with fields from PCscreens, human charges, manual handling between lines...you know what. As I said, not easy too keep up with if you check all details, enough with sneezing or scratch your head, and immediately you have those 50 Volts. We have extremly stringent ESD regulations, but somewhat aged, decreasing Vcc levels and you have to make corresponding correlations, which is not what todays ESD rules have. ESD-mats, ion-blowers, humidity systems, 3M sprays, transient absorbers, ESD bleeding resistors...we have all that...I talk about understanding areas not so oftenly spoken of.
