Revision C of the IPC-A-610 states:
Acceptable - Class 1,2,3
Weave exposure does not reduce the spacing between conductive patters below
speification minimums.
Remember the adage Form, Fit and Function. I think this is likely a
non-issue.

Subject: [TN] Flex-circuit Stiffeners
I have a customer for a high rel application that is concerned about weave
exposure on a epoxy glass stiffener.
According to IPC-610, weave exposure is not acceptable. Our material
supplier sands the material in order to meet tight thickness tolerances.
Per IPC-6013, stiffeners are to be evaluated only for mechanical support. In
addition, the circuit as supplied is allowed weave exposure if conductor
spacing is not reduced below minimum. Since a stiffener carries no
conductors, I would consider this a non-issue.
Any words of wisdom from manufacturers or assemblers welcome.
