Fax paper can also be taped to the top of a bare board (use
actual fab of the board you will be running), to assure that you are getting
good spray to the top of barrels. You should see small dots on the paper in
the PTH locations, and can adjust spray pressure accordingly if necessary to
get good internal barrel coverage.

You did not state the type of sprayer you
plan to use..so I am assuming that
if you are converting now it is to a modern
type of sprayer. Some of the
primitive sprayers IMO are junk. They only
traverse from side to side with
no control of traverse speed, volume of flux
applied,etc.etc.(Also creating
a Maint. issue) As stated in Lee's mail...If
the system is airtight specific
gravity of the flux is no longer a concern.
"Air tight" IMO is a pressurized
system under nitrogen. I have seen however
that this is not always the case.
You may find that some people consider an
"Air tight" system to be a covered
container....if the specific gravity does
not wander they have deemed this
system successful.
One note on setup...To easily determine the
amount of flux
applied/coverage/pattern you can use the
glass plate or Fax paper method.
The glass plate will give you a good
starting point but you usually have run
off. The fax paper taped to the glass plate
seems to work rather well. It
absorbs the flux as it travels of the
sprayer and usually gives you a good
visual pattern.
Daily Maint...Check your sprayer application
tip daily for dried residues.
The new systems are fairly good at purging
themselves..However a clogged tip
will effect spray pattern/volume/etc.
