Hi Mark,

I was strugling with the same question in the past.
After some research we found out that everybody has its own way of measuring.
So it is impossible to compare the targets.

More important is to set up a method for your own productionenvironment.
Determine the DPMO in your factory with your method.

Then set a realistic target and keep on working to get there.
Once you've reached the target you can set a new one.

But if you like to hear a number ; for SMA prereflow we used 500 dpmo to start with.

Hope this helps a little

Subject: [TN] Assembly DPMO Benchmarks or Targets

Hey all,

I'd like to hear what some other folks are using for numeric DPMO targets
for assembly processes, such as:

SMT placement and/or reflow
Auto PTH insertion
Manual PTH insertion
Wave solder
Manual solder

We adhere to the preliminary IPC-9261 standard for calculation and now want
to benchmark the results. Thanks.

Mark
