Mark; IPC has just released a document, IPC-7912 called "Calculation of DPMO and
Manufacturing Indices for Printed Board Assemblies". It was created by an
industry wide consensus.
We've just ordered one.

Is there any set of industry benchmarks (numeric targets) for the DPMO
metric as derived from the IPC prescribed calculations (IPC-9261 and IPC-
7912)? Most companies that use DPMO's set some standard targets, but has
there been any industry research as to what current best-practice targets
might be? I'm intersted in DPMO targets for SMT placement, reflow, PTH
placement (auto and manual), wave solder, and manual solder processes.

Sure would appreciate some guidance. Thanks.
