Another option which we once though of was to use those bean-like things
which are used for baking a blind pie crust. They must be ceramic,
should withstand our temperatures OK. Maybe better than metal for
accidental component damage? Readily available from kitchen stores.
Haven't tried it, tho.
Static implications?
Good luck,
Peter

Ron,
Many years ago I worked where the use of "bean bags" was desired.
I contacted a local merchant that repaired luggage, tents, and other
heavy
materials. He was able to find a suitable glass cloth material and
steel
shot was obtained from a local gun shop.
I had him sew up several sizes and weights. They worked very well, were
relatively resistant to the flux, etc. and cleaned very well in our
cleaning
process (back then we still used Freon). Alcohol might work fine for
you.
Water will cause the steel shot to rust.
Bye the way, please say "Hi" to Evan Hardy for me
Good luck,
Pete

Subject: [TN] Wave Soldering
To All,
I have an assembly that has a few components that want to float
while
going over the wave solder. In my past life we used sandbags, but
as
the story goes I can't seem to remember where they were purchased.
I
was wondering if anyone out there knew where I could get my hands
on
some. Thank you in advance for your time and energy.
