Balki-
I am partial to the Cyber Optics AOI equipment (www.cyberoptics.com). Since
we are an Engineering/ R&D Company we see mostly high mix type of boards and
the Cyber Optics machines function extremely well. It is difficult for me to
give details on process time or set up time since we stop the process after
each board (through put is not our main concern)
As far a low end equipment (matter of interpretation) WATCH OUT- you may get
what you pay for.

Another interesting theory is identifying with UV light. This process is
provided by Original Solutions (WWW.original-solutions.com). This concept
has great usefulness and well worth looking into.

Contact me off line via email for Cyber Optics or Original Solutions contact
information.

*
*
*Hi Technetters
*Wondering if any of you could share your experiences
*with the use of AOI equipment...
*1. could it be used if the floor handles a really low
*volume and high mix setup......what is the changeover
*and setup times we are looking at.....how many of
*boards can we hold in the database?
*2. what is the cost of a low-end equipment and
*dimensions...
*3. what are the "ballpark" processing times in
*general.....is it used in-line for all boards or done
*more on a sampling basis?
*thanks in anticipation
