IPC-A-610 provides acceptablity guidelines, it is a book detailing
acceptance critera.
J-STD-001 is a process control document, it is acutally a series of books
that provide information about electronic manufacturing processes, methods,
materials, and results.

Call out the A-610 if you want to specify results.

Subject: Re: [TN] IPC-A-610 and ANSI-J-STD

Good Morning Ken,

I have been told that the ANSI-J-STD is some what the mother book.
IPC-A -610 is a very good pictorial reference. If you can not find it there
go to your ANSI-J-STD. My understanding is that they are the same only
ANSI-J-STD has more detail and less pictures.
Confusing than my answer is.
I call out IPC-610 than I go to the J-STD if I can't fine what I need. I
think 610 is easier for our associates to understand. They have the J-STD
but, I'm usually the only one that needs it.

What is the difference between IPC-A-610 and ANSI-J-STD? Which one should I
call out?
