If there is enough room we actually put a diode symbol in the silkscreen.
This is a big
help to someone troubleshooting the board.

Phil,

There is no standard for marking surface mounted diodes. We use two ways to
indicate the cathode end. If it is a chip package, we chamfer the two
corners on the cathode end. When there is room to put in a box in between
the pins, a bar is added to the cathode end, like the old days when we use
those leaded diodes.

What does everyone use for marking polarity of diodes on the silkscreen?

Is there a standard for this family of components?
