I know this thread was brought up a couple of times in the recent past, but
now we've got concrete proof that it's happening.

Got a fax from one of our board vendors telling us that prices are going to
go up again. They did back in March and they're going up again this month. In
the fax they sent two letters that were sent to them by their laminate
supplier. To wit:

January 15, 2000

"Recently the market has experienced price increases and a tightening in the
availabilty of laminate raw materials. In order to maintain our ability to
provide you with the highest quality of laminate products and the highest
level of service, we must pass these increases on to you, our customer.
Average price increases of 6% on rigid board and 5% on multilayer/prepreg and
specialty products will become effective on all orders shipped on or after
February 14, 2000."

July 24, 2000

"Recently the market has experienced price increases in our laminate raw
materials - copper, fiberglass, paper, and resin. In order to maintain our
ability to provided you with the highest quality of laminate products and the
highest level of service, we must pass these price increases along to you,
our customer. You can expect to see the following average increases: CEM-1,
CEM-3 and rigid board FR4 - 6%. These changes will become effective on or
after August 10, 2000."
