You may also wish to check out this reference, which is a "must read for
anyone interested in DoD / Military contracting Configuration Management":

Implementing Configuration Management Hardware, Software, and Firmware by
Fletcher J. Buckley; IEEE Press

These references deal how configuration management operates, and the duties
of the various functions within the system.
