Hi Martin,

Actually, we've done it as a two step process laminate one side of flex.
cut it off from the backing FR-4, flip it over and laminate the other side.

When we developed it looked great. They were firing up the etcher and I
still need to those results.

I'll see if I can come up with a source for Duofoil.

Thanks for the feedback.

Hans

Hans,

Do you still get good adhesion of the resist using the FR4? My only concern
would be that the FR4 would tend to insulate the flex from the bottom heated
roller. It may look okay but may manifest itself as poor line definition
when you come to develop / etch.

I've used a material called "Duofoil" in the past as a rigidiser for very
thin flex (can't remember who makes it). Basically it's just a thin Al sheet
(normally used in stack make-ups for laminating flex circuits).

Martin
