I never worked with 5 mil 6002 before, but knowing the nature of the
material, you will have a handling challenge on your hands. We dropped some
20 mil 6003 from table height and it landed on its corner and wrinkled up
like a Ruffles Potato chip. Totally ruined the board. You will need support
under the board to prevent warping and stretching. I would suggest a good
holding fixture to stay with the board through assembly, preferably with
some tooling holes for alignment. Contact Rogers for guidelines on handling,
etc. they may have some input that will be useful. Most everyone who makes a
board like this needs to attach it to a carrier of some sort. Find out what
they plan to do...
Just my thoughts...

Yes, I'm afraid I am serious... The board is 5 thousandths of an inch thick
and is made of 6002 Rogers Duroid!
Thanks,
Jim M.

        Jim,
Are you serious?! Did you really mean the board is 5 thou thick or
that the
Teflon coating on the board is 5 thou thick or did you mean a 50
thou thick
        board?

        Subject: [TN] DENSE SMT ASSEMBLY

        Hello Technet:

Well, the Electrical Engineers did it to me again! They're
designing an
assembly consisting of a Teflon surface mount board .005" thick,
approximately 1.5 x 1.7", with 320 components! The component mix is
mostly
0402's (resistors, caps and inductors) and 30 SOT-363s. Does anyone
have
any suggestions as how to automate this assembly process?

        Thanks in advance,
        Jim Marsico
