We assemble PCB for space applications so it is clearly a class 3 board.
And we are allowed to rework one time each solder joint. So that means that
every joint can be touched up one time.
After, we have to change the component.

So, I think you customer has missed something !

Fellow Technets, A question was posed to me by a customer claiming that IPC-R-7221 stated that a maximum of 1 rework per board for class 3 was acceptable. Specifically they stated that this means only 1 solder joint per board could be touched up. I have been searching high and low for IPC-R-7221 but to no avail have yet to find the existence this publication. My questions are: 1. Does IPC-R-7221 exist? 2. If so, can anyone support or refute the claims of only being able to touch up 1 solder joint on a class 3 assembly? Any help or input would be appreciated.
