The "Dogboneing effect" is caused by excessive plating build up on
generally small parts or on sharp outside corners.  If you look at a part
that has the dogbone on it all or some of the corners will have rounded
corners and they will be beyond the other horizontal or vertical surfaces
that were plated.  You never want to accept any parts that show signs of
this.

That is my two cents on it.

"dog boneing". What is it, and what is the cause?
