As a CM we have built boards with various markings for LEDs, most notably,
silkscreen marking on the cathode end of the LEDs.  Pin 1 or square pad
normally designate anode of LEDs.  Confusion occurs when silkscreen marking
is placed at pin 1.  As long as the pad layout correlates with the
silkscreen, I don't see a problem with both methods.
