symantec is the maker (parent?) of Norton programs (CrashGuard, Utilities, etc.)
avcenter is their Anti-Virus Center
fixlife.exe is the name of the file that _fix_es your computer in case you have
caught the 'Stages of _Life_' virus.
However, your evident reluctance to download the fix shows you are not the kind
of person to open an email attachment without knowing what's inside, so you're
not likely to catch the virus. I don't know about greed, but caution IS good.
