Seth was sharing a concern about the resurfacing of a known virus. The pointer is to the Symantec web site--developer of the Norton Anti-Virus software. This company, as well as the several other anti-virus program manufacturers typically post "quick-fixes" such as this one for new virus occurences until such time as the virus-detection files are updated and made available for download.

While we prefer that virus notifications be left to your companies IS departments for proper notification rather than posted on our technical list servers, this posting was short and complete, including the link to a the same reputable anti-virus software company that has been referenced in the past. This is a variation of the recent virus that shut down e-mail systems of so many companies and cost millions if not billions of dollars in damage.

The continued support of all listserv users to refrain from posting the unsubstantiated and hoax-type virus warnings is appreciated. The web link listed is one of several that can direct you to listings of these hoax virus and sick-child types of msgs.

Thanks for all for sharing your knowledge through TechNet.
Jack

All email users,

It's that time again, the "jokes" (a.k.a. stages of life) virus is
making
the rounds a third time now. Please do NOT open this email, if you receive
it delete it immediately. I need every email user to download the following
file:

http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/fixlife.exe

If you have any trouble downloading or running this file, please call me. I
am at the Boise office today.
