Charles,
Sounds a bit picky to me.
I'd measure the ESD with an Electrostatic Field Meter. If the pegboard is
indeed radiating an ESD field, replace the nylon cable ties with conductive
ties such as wire, etc. Possibly the use of a staticide spray applied to
the pegboard on a periodic schedule will help you solve your dilemma.
Good luck, Pete

Subject: [TN] Pegboard and ESD

We recently mounted pegboard at our workstations to hold our hand tools. It
is
hung from a wire shelf about 10-12 inches above the work surface by nylon
cable
ties. We did this as part of a Lean manufacturing exercise. Now I have been
told
that this is an ESD violation because the wood fiber pegboard is not
grounded.
Could you guys and ladies out there give me your opinions? What kind of risk
do
you see with this?
Thanks in advance,
Charles Caswell
