Hi Charles,
As long as you are 12 inches or more away from the work area/surface, you
are o.k.  And it is my understanding that wood does not generate static, so
it would not be an ESD concern.  You should do some investigating yourself
though to verify this.  I'm sure you have some kind of meter(s) available to
you that will confirm this.  My experience with this type situation
concerned pure wood, not pegboard, so the results may be different for you.
But, just depending on what the filler material is made of, I really think
you should be able to use it.
