Hi Mat,

Even if you only run 1  16" fan on low, sucking air INTO the canteen while
the 9" is exhausting from the smoke room would probably be adequate for most
of the problem (although it will not make sufficient differential to prevent
bodies exiting the smoke room to the canteen from dragging some smoke filled
air into the canteen). That assumes equal or positive air pressures from
rooms ajoining the canteen which can have significant impact to the overall
effectiveness.

One thing is clear... as soon as a 16" fan is set on exhaust to blow out of
the canteen, stale smoke will exit the smoke room and enter the canteen
because the 16" fan will easily overcome the 9" exhaust. I would disable the
reversing switch on the 16" fans. Gee, you'd think with all this blowing and
sucking nobody would be complaining.
