Be rest assured Steve,
You are not going out of your mind. I had aboard in my prior life that was
.070 and had what you would call an ungodly amount of planes on it. Then we
were putting from 4 to 6 power supplies about 2"x4" with a .150 thick heat
sink on it. We finally had to hand solder with a pace iron using an RMA flux
on it.
Some things are better left to the hand solder experts.

I can feel for you man.

Subject: [TN] Wave soldering ancient designs...

Hey all...

The last couple of weeks have been interesting to say the least as far as my
wave soldering goes...(Hey Joyce! Any openings at your new place?...gofer',
janitor, anything?... ;^)...).

You may have read about my problems with the way pins connect to inner
planes
and all that, but now the last few days I've been trying to wave assemblies
that have metal heat-sinks bonded to the top of the PCB with the PTH
components installed on top of the heat-sink and then into the PCB...

Again, I've tried everything that my feeble mind (at this point) can
possibly
do to wave these bloody things...

I'm thinking that designs such as these cannot be wave soldered with any
good
results. Am I wrong in thinking that? Do these designs have to be hand
built?
Am I just spinning my wheels trying to wave solder them?

Gawd, I'm getting beat-up by so many people because I can't figure out how
to
wave these pieces of...of...of..."work"...
